True Life Was (And Still Is) An Eye-Opening Series
The MTV documentary series True Life premiered in 1998 and still airs on the network. Each episode follows a certain theme, such as drug addiction and financial problems and is narrated by the participants. Other issues the show has tackled include being in a love triangle, life as a mixed martial artist, and participants who are bisexual. The program has received numerous GLAAD awards for its portrayal of LGBT issues. Some of its most shocking episodes have featured sex offenders, kids with parents who were porn stars, a young adult with schizophrenia, and adults who enjoyed wearing diapers.
