When Al Bielek began telling people he was a time traveler, no one believed him. It wasn't until after he started listing off dates, times, and various events that were going to occur, and did occur, that people began to listen.
How did he travel back in time? His story of government experiments is one people have to read to believe.
It Started With The Philadelphia Experiment
During World War II, the United States began conducting experiments in hopes of winning the war. However, the experiments aboard the USS Eldridge were anything but ordinary.
The Philadelphia Experiment, for example, stirs up numerous theories about time travel and even teleportation. The truth behind the experiment was a mystery for years until one man stepped forward.
Al Bielek Was Not An Ordinary Child
Al Bielek was born in 1927 to a pretty average and ordinary family. The thing was, he was no ordinary child. Bielek recalls memories from before he could walk, something that is unheard of in normal children.
Not only that, but when he was a baby, Bielek recalls being able to understand conversations around him.
A Walking Encyclopedia
Growing up, Bielek was always a bit self-conscious. He seemed more advanced than other kids his age. His classmates even gave him the nickname "walking encyclopedia" because he was able to retain so much information.
Needless to say, Bielek always felt a bit out of place. That is until he watched a movie in 1988.
A Movie Helped Him Connect The Dots
Growing up, Bielek never understood why he knew specific things or how he could retain so much information at once. It wasn't until he was 60-years-old and watching a film that he began to remember something else entirely.
In 1988, he went to watch The Philadelphia Experiment, a sci-fi film based on the World War II government experiment of the same name.
It Was Like Déjà Vu
Watching the sci-fi movie, Bielek recalled feeling a weird sense of déjà vu, like he'd known all about this experiment already. In the film, the United States Navy attempted to create a device to render their ships invisible to enemy radar.
All of the tests were done aboard a ship called the USS Eldridge. Unfortunately, something else happened during the tests. So the movie goes.
A Strange Fog Surrpounded The Device
As the movie and conspiracy theories go, there was a strange green-tinged fog surround the device the day it was activated. It was October 28, 1943, and bystanders watched as the Navy flipped the switch.
A blue flash happened, and, somehow, the ship and every onboard disappeared. Everything and everyone on the USS Eldridge had turned invisible.
The Ship's Reappearance Was A Gruesome Sight
In the movie, and as told by eye-witnesses, the ship did not stay invisible forever. It reappeared. However, the reappearance had dire consequences. While sailors only suffered from nausea others were gravely injured.
Others suffered and died from mysterious illnesses. In any case, Bielek could not help but feel like he had been a part of the entire scenario.
Bielek Could Not Shake A Sinister Feeling
After watching the movie, Bielek could not shake the feeling that something was wrong. It was creeping him out. He began to have what he could only describe as flashbacks, since the memories were so vivid.
Even so, he was not sure if he was losing his mind or not. So, he decided to seek out help.
He Came Across New Age Methods
These flashes were becoming more frequent and Bielek knew he had to get help to understand there meaning. He began looking into New Age Methods of memory retrieval and started to speak with psychics and therapists about the flashbacks.
After speaking with people, Bielek began piecing everything together. No one really believed the conclusion he came to.
His Real Name Was Edward Cameron, Born In 1916
Two years after he had first watched The Philadelphia Experiment. Bielek came out with his first exposition, explaining his flashbacks and what he had come to learn from them. What he said, though, raised more than a few eyebrows.
He said that his name was not Al Bielek and that he was not born in 1927. Instead, his name was Edward Cameron, born in 1916.
The US Government Placed Him In The Bielek Family
Saying that his name was Edward Cameron was not even the strangest part of his revelation. Bielek went on to say that the United States government placed him in the Bielek family to keep a highly classified mission a secret.
Amazingly, Bielek, aka Cameron's story gets even stranger, more eyebrow-raising, and just real enough that people began to believe him.
Yes, The Experiment Did Happen
As Bielek's exposition continued, he began to explain how The Philadelphia Experiment was much more than a sci-fi movie. He said that it had actually happened and the United States government was covering it up.
According to Bielek, the results of the experiment were too dire to even imagine. People were skeptical for obvious reasons, but one question remained.
Bielek Was An Eyewitness
People were not sure what to make of Bielek's comments. But there was one question that had everyone scratching their heads: How did Al Bielek or Edward Cameron get to know so much about a top-secret government operation?
Bielek's answer to the question was that he knew so much about the experiment and the coverup because he was there as an eyewitness.
He Spoke About His Experience To A Live Audience
To prove he was there, Bielek publicly announced various secrets revolving around The Philadelphia Experiment, things only someone who was there would know. At the 1990 Mutual UFO Network Conference (MUFON) in Texas, Bielek began recounting his story to a live audience.
Like any good story, he started at the beginning, when he and his brother were drafted into the US Navy in 1939.
Edward And Duncan Were Assigned To The USS Eldridge
In 1939, he and his brother, Duncan Cameron, were drafted into the United States Navy. By the time 1943 rolled around, both brothers were appointed to the USS Eldridge, a ship that was about to change their lives forever.
If he got anything through to the audience, Bielek wanted them to understand the severity of the experiment.
More Than An Eyewitness
Bielek explained that the movie was not fiction and actually happened during the second World War. Some of the top scientists of the time were involved, helping the United States build a device that could potentially shield ships from enemy radar.
He went on to say that he was not just an eyewitness but was aboard the ship when the device was activated.
They Jumped Ship But Didn't Hit The water
Same as the movie, Bielek explained that some sailors were instantaneously sick while others began screaming. He and his brother did not know what to do during the chaos. So, they decided to jump ship.
However, instead of falling down into the water, both he and Duncan were suspended in time, stuck in midair. Then, everything went black.
The Brothers Woke Up In The Year 2137
The two brothers allegedly woke up in a strange place, covered in burns from the radiation set off from the device. As Bielek tells it, he had no idea where they were, only that it was a hospital of some kind.
They later learned that they were no longer in 1943 but had traveled through time and were in 2137!
There Was A Map Showing A Lot Of The US Under Water
Understandably, they were very confused and had no idea what was going on. The doctors helped as best they could, showing maps of the United States and how it had changed over the years.
Bielek saw a map showing most of the Southeast and West Coasts submerged in water and Atlanta on the coast.
Next: The Year 2749
Six weeks later, everything went dark again. Bielek and his brother Duncan were traveling through time. This time, they went even further back, to the year 2749. Looking around the new hospital, Bielek really did not need anyone to tell him he was in the future.
He could tell just by looking at the surgical equipment around him -- it was unlike anything he'd seen before.
Bielek Spent Two Years In The 28th Century
After his injuries were treated with "advanced surgical materials" and "vibrational and light treatment therapies," Bielek spent the next two years working as a tour guide in the 28th century.
Even so, no amount of time would help him wrap his mind around what he was witnessing in this new world.
Artificial Intelligence Controlled The Entire Globe
Nothing was going to help Bielek wrap his mind around a synthetic computer system (artificial Intelligence) shaped like a giant crystal ball controlling the entire planet. According to Bielek, this computer would output messages telepathically to everyone on the globe!
Government as he'd known it was a thing of the distant past.
The Global Population Was Down To 300 Million
That was not even the biggest change for Bielek. What terrified him the most were the massive wars that whipped out a solid chunk of the global population, bringing it from 7.1 billion down to no more than 300 million.
The wars that left the world in ruins were between Russia and China and then another between the United States and Europe.
Humanity Mastered Anti-Gravity Technology
Cities lay desolate, Florida was gone, and the United States did not have a democratic government. Everything was turned around, and Bielek did not know how to handle it. Not only that, but the technology he'd experienced was behind his wildest dreams.
Humans had finally mastered anti-gravity technology, creating floating cities around the world.
The Cities Floated Around The World
According to Bielek, cities were suspended about two miles above the ground with the anti-gravity technology. And with city limits and borders being a thing of the past, these floating structures traveled the Earth, controlled by the central computer.
People did reside on the ground-level, beneath these cities, though. Although, they were considered lower-class citizens.
Next Stop: 1983
After two years in the very far future, Bielek and his brother experienced another blackout and time traveled once again. This time, they wound up in the past, in 1983.
But they didn't wake up in a hospital this time. Rather, they were in a secure government facility with highly-ranked officials.
It Wasn't Their Last Stop
Bielek and his brother disclosed all of the information they learned about the future. But their strange adventure wasn't going to stop with the debrief.
Not only did the officials say they were never to tell a soul about their experience, but they were going to be thrown through time again.
He Was Born In Al Bielek's Body
This next mission didn't go as Bielek had expected. As it turned out, the government had other plans for him to ensure he kept all of these secrets to himself.
Instead of going through space and time as he had before, something else happened -- he was born into Al Bielek's body!
Duncan Didn't Survive
His brother had a different experience too. Instead of being born into someone else's body, he aged at such a rapid rate that he didn't survive.
And, sadly, because Edward was supposedly thrown into a baby's mind, he forgot everything -- his brother, time travel, the government experiments, and everything that happened in the future.
Bielek Became A Leading Figure In Conspiracy Theory Culture
Once he began remembering his experience, Bielek wanted to share his story with anyone who would listen. He wanted to warn people about the future and how the government tried to silence him.
Needless to say, the government probably didn't count on him remembering anything or becoming one of the more prominent figures in the world of space-time travel and conspiracy theories.
