The 1966 Italian-Algerian historical war film The Battle of Algiers stars Jean Martin and Saadi Yacef. It centers on the titular battle, which took place during the Algerian War against the French government in North Africa. It takes place between 1954 and 1957 when guerrilla fighters infiltrated the Casbah and took up arms against French paratroopers.
