Simply put, there are some things from the past that Gen-Zers just won't understand. Give them one look at something from before their time and they'll be scratching their heads, with no clue what it is. Here are some of those puzzling items.
A Cassette Player
Believe it or not, there was a time when access to all of the music in the world wasn't at your fingertips.
At one point, we had to actually chose the albums we wanted to listen to and put them into an oversized cassette player which we then had to lug around.
This Is How You Talked To Your Crush
Back in the day, kids didn't hop on the Xbox to play Fortnite or Warzone.
Instead, we would stretch our fingers and prepare ourselves for hours of instant messaging, at least until someone else needed to use the computer.
That's Not A SIM Card
Although floppy discs were first introduced in the late 1960s, they didn't go anywhere until the 1990s.
These babies were used to store electronic data and couldn't even hold all that much.
Play Ball!
Long before there were the fancy gaming systems that the kids have today, we used to enjoy a nice game of Backyard Baseball.
Arguments and debates were settled on this field and fistfights broke out about who got to have Pablo Sanchez.
What Was Your Time?
Yes, at the time, our boredom became so extreme that we got extremely into speed stacking cups.
Back then, it wasn't considered a "nerdy" thing to do, with people evn boasting about their scores. Of course, those scores were rarely believed.
Where Will They Go Next?
If you can't tell what these books are just by taking a glimpse at their covers, it's clear how old you are.
These are the Magic Tree House books, which were the foundation of any young person's reading progression.
Cool Kids Only
Long before there were smartphones, there was the Motorola Razr. At the time, these were the king of phones, and if you had one, you were in the club.
Believe it or not, Motorola isn't even in existence anymore.
The Coolest Commercials Ever
Crazy as it sounds, there was once a time when you had to have a separate Apple device to listen to your music.
The iPod was mind-blowing at the time, and the string-like things connected to the device are called wires for your headphones.
Fear The Projector
No, that isn't a robot from Star Wars, that's an old-school projector that teachers would use to do demonstrations for the class.
We remember when Smart Boards were first added to classrooms, and now even those are considered ancient.
Settle It With These Bad Boys
Before people used to settle disputes over quick scope matches on Rust in Modern Warfare 2, we had Socker Boppers.
They are exactly what they look like, and if you hit someone hard enough, they actually hurt.
Heaven On Earth
Back in the day, going to the Scholastic Book Fair was like going to Coachella.
This was the place where dreams were made, and you were a living god if you walked in with $20.
Why Were These Even Made?
No, these are not pieces of candy but erasers. Well, if you can call them that because they definitely didn't work.
Despite that, you could find at least five of them on any given classroom floor.
They Were Everywhere
Get your head out of Cloud 9; these aren't for what you're thinking. These are for holding and protecting your precious film rolls.
Because, at one point, that was the only way to take pictures and see what they looked like...eventually.
What Color Are You Playing?
We have two gems in one picture here which are the iconic Game Boy Color and, of course, Pokémon.
This combo was a staple in just about anyone's childhood, whether you were a boy or girl, and we wouldn't trade those memories for anything.
Prepare To Have Your Brain Melted
Even without the label, people that are old enough know that these are Listerine Strips.
One of these puppies is enough to knock anyone's socks and guarantee fresh breath for about five minutes.
The Holy Grail
You probably aren't aware, but these aren't books but in fact, VHS tapes, which is something we're not even going to explain.
Not only that, but these are classic Disney films that paved the way for whatever movies you consider to be the best from Disney.
A Strange Device
You can stop scratching your head now. This is what's known as a pencil sharpener, and you guessed it. It's used to sharpen pencils.
We remember breaking our pencils so that we could go to the sharpener during class to pass notes.
The Dreaded Yellow Pages
What's shocking about this photo isn't that the person is actually writing with their hand, but it is that they're using a phone book.
You would use this to look up people or an establishment's phone numbers, and it was hard work.
Imagine Paying To Make A Call
It's safe to say that no "Zoomer" has ever used a payphone before, considering they're all essentially gone.
Well, the premise is that you pay a few cents and make a call. And yes, all kinds of people used the same phone.
Thick As A Brick
Whatever you're guessing this is, you're probably mistaken. This is a phone from ancient times known as the SideKick.
This phone was as heavy as it looks and flipped sideways to expose a keyboard. This is where all the girls learned to text so fast.
Keep Them Alive At All Cost
Although you may be able to get a pretty penny for a classic one, these small devices are called Tamagotchis.
Essentially, they were virtual pets that you tried to keep alive but always managed to kill.
Like Stepping Into Another World
The Rainforest Cafe used to arguably be the best restaurant of all time... a completely immersive dining experience.
This is the spot where every kid wanted to have their birthday, and anyone invited couldn't be happier to attend.
Eating Off These Was A Treat
For anyone lucky enough to own these plates, you know that the best meal was a corn dog and chicken nuggets with ketchup on the side.
Of course, you also had to be watching the movie from the plate while you ate.
These Were Just Cool To Have
We don't know why, but it seems like everyone had one of these shiny geckos that were filled with sand or some other material.
Rarely did anyone play with them; they were just lying around.
Beanie Babies Were EVERYWHERE
Unless they have an older sibling, it's unlikely that any Gen Zers actually own any Beanie Babies themselves.
Yet, back in the day, they were all the rage, and collecting them was a cool thing to do.
A Truly Beautiful Place
If your parents were taking you to Toys R Us, you knew that you were definitely doing something right.
Every toy you could imagine was right at your fingertips; all you had to do was convince your parents to let you get it.
Basically Death Traps
While we're not saying Gen Zers never played on a playground, but it's highly unlikely they ever had one a wooden one.
These things essentially required you to play at your own risk. Splinters, wasps, nails... you name it, these places were dangerous.
Your First Taste Of Love
We're going to take a guess and say you have no idea who these two are. Well, this is Cory and Topanga from Boy Meets World.
This was one of the biggest shows during our youth. Their love story always kept us on the edge of our seats.
The Stuff Of Nightmares
We're still not entirely sure how Furbies managed to get so popular or why everyone had them because they're still plain creepy.
People that are too young to know them should count themselves lucky.
The Pain...The Pain
While kids these days grew up drawing on iPads, they never knew the pain of using an Etch A Sketch. One wrong move and your entire masterpiece was now garbage.
Whoever invented this wanted us to suffer.
