David Bowie poses for a picture dressed as his alter ego Ziggy Stardust in 1973. Bowie was a singer, songwriter, and actor. During his career, he was one of the leading figures in popular music and had a career that spanned over five decades. Known for his otherworldly stage performances and visual presentation, he is credited with influencing many different artists. During his lifetime, he sold over 140 million albums worldwide and is one of the best-selling musicians of all time. After some experimentation, he re-emerged as Ziggy Stardust in the 1970s after the success of his single “Starman” and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. He passed away in January 2016 after a long battle with liver cancer.
